HALIFAX - The Moncton Wildcats picked up at 5-4 overtime win over the Halifax Mooseheads in a barn-burner on Friday night.
The Wildcats opened up the scoring as Ozzie King found the back of Alex Gravel's net midway through the first period.
Elliot Desnoyers added to Moncton's lead but Cam Whynot and Max Trepanier responded for the Herd to tie it up at 2-2 after 40 minutes.
Kyle Foreman restored the Wildcat's lead but Samuel Dube answered back minutes later to tie it up at 3-3.
Trepanier gave the Mooseheads their first lead late in the third period but Alexander Khovanov responded to keep it tied, forcing overtime.
Khovanov won it for Moncton in overtime to make it a 5-4 final.
The Mooseheads will make their way to Saint John on Saturday to take on the Sea Dogs.
