Sea Dogs hold on to pick up 9-7 win over Mooseheads

The Saint John Sea Dogs held on to defeat the Halifax Mooseheads 9-7 in a high scoring affair Sunday afternoon.

Maxim Cajkovic and Jeremie Poirier both found the back of Halifax's net in the opening frame to make it 2-0 Sea Dogs.

Jason Horvath cut Saint John's lead in half with his first goal as a Moosehead.

Cajkovic, Josh Lawrence and William Villeneuve extended Saint John's lead early in the second period. Kevin Gursoy and D'Artagnan Joly scored two more goals for the Herd in the second period while Joshua Roy added another for the Sea Dogs.
Gavin Hart brought the Herd within two early in the third period. Cajkovic completed the hat-trick shortly after with Marcel Barinka answering back for the Herd.

Just seconds after Barinka's goal, Jeffrey Durocher restored the Sea Dog's three goal lead. Hart scored his second of the evening to bring Halifax within two. 

Gursoy Brought Halifax within one but an empty netter from Dawson Stairs sealed the 9-7 win for Saint John.

The Mooseheads will make their way to Moncton to take on the Wildcats.
