SAINT JOHN, N.B. - The Halifax Mooseheads start the regular season with a loss after falling to the Saint John Sea Dogs 4-3 Friday night.

The Sea Dogs drew first blood, with Nicholas Deakin-Poot finding the back of Halifax's net.

Marcel Barinka scored the Herd's first regular season goal to tie things up heading into the second period.

Saint John controlled the second period with Ben Badalamenti and William Villeneuve adding to the Sea Dog's lead.

Raphael Lavoie brought the Herd within one early in the third period. Dawson Stairs answered back and Seena Peeters responded for the Moose.

But it wasn't enough as the Sea Dogs held on to defeat the Herd 4-3.
