Halifax Mooseheads rookie defenceman Cam Whynot is one of 66 players selected to represent Canada at the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

The tournament is set for November 2-9 in Medicine Hat, Alberta and Swift Current, Saskatchewan.

The Canadian players will be divided into three teams - Team Canada Black, Team Canada Red and Team Canada White. They will compete against the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Sweden and the United States.

Halifax's Oscar Plandowski and Upper Tantallon's Jacob Goobie, who both play for the Charlottetown Islanders, along with Enfield native and Acadie-Bathurst Titan forward Riley Kidney also made the cut.

"We feel this group exemplifies the values of the Program of Excellence and will represent Canada with pride as we compete for a gold medal this November." said Brad McEwen, head scout for Hockey Canada.
