Lavoie heading to Chicoutimi, Stewart traded to Acadie-Bathurst

Fresh off a World Juniors victory, Halifax Mooseheads forward Raphael Lavoie will be packing up his gold medal and heading to Chicoutimi.

In exchange, the Herd will get a 1st round pick (CHA) in 2020, a 2nd round pick (SHE) in 2020, a 2nd round pick (CHI) in 2021 and a 3rd round pick (CHI) in 2021.

Lavoie had 189 career points in 191 games with the Mooseheads and set a franchise record with 20 goals during the 2019 President Cup Playoffs.

He's also third in franchise history with 17 career game-winning goals. 

The Chambly, QC native was originally drafted by Halifax in the second round, 29th overall in the 2016 QMJHL Entry Draft. 

He was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the second round of the June, 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

Lavoie will play his first game with the Sagueneens against the Mooseheads at the Scotiabank Centre Friday night.

The Herd also dealt forward Cole Stewart and a 5th round pick to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in exchange for 17-year-old forward Alexandre David.

David was a second round pick of the Titan in 2018 and played 49 games last season with the team where he scored five points. 

The 18-year-old Stewart was a third round pick of the Mooseheads in 2017 and has scored 12 points in 69 career games with Halifax.

The QMJHL trade period closes today at 1 p.m. Atlantic.
