CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. -  The Charlottetown Islanders picked up a 5-2 win over the Halifax Mooseheads on Sunday afternoon.

Benoit-Olivier Groulx opened up the scoring on a power play midway through the opening period bu Gaetan Jobin responed with a power play of his own to tie it up at 1-1 after 20 minutes.

Liam Peyton helped Charlottetown take a 2-1 lead early in the second period.

Max-Antoine Melancon extended their lead to give them a two-goal cushion late in the second but Max Trepanier answered right back to bring the Herd within one.

Thomas Casey scored twice in the final period to ice it for Charlottetown.

The Mooseheads are back in the Scotiabank Centre on Friday when they welcome the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
