Halifax continues losing slump, falling to Eagles 7-1

Halifax loses third straight game against their provincial rivals.

HALIFAX - The Mooseheads have lost their last five games as the Cape Breton Eagles knocked off Halifax 7-1 on Tuesday night.

The Eagles were an offensive force in the first period, getting 23 shots on net with four of those getting past Alex Gravel. 

Shaun Miller opened the scoring for Cape Breton while Derek Gentile, Brooklyn Kalmikov and Ryan Francis all netted goals in the first period, sending Halifax to the first intermission in a deep hole.

Shaun Miller scored his second of the game five minutes into the second period, which Raphaël Lavoie responded to netting his 11th of the year.

Shawn Boudrias scored 12 minutes into the third for Cape Breton, followed by Ryan Francis, who picked up his 10th goal of the season which finished a disappointing night for Halifax.

The Herd have dropped all three contests against the Eagles this season. 

The Mooseheads will face off against the Acadie-Bathurst on Friday night.
