The Cape Breton Eagles dominated the Halifax Mooseheads 8-2 on Saturday night.
The Eagles struck first in the opening period with Egor Sokolov and Ryan Francis putting Cape Breton up 2-0 after 20 minutes.
Sokolov netted his second of the evening early in the second period followed up minutes later by Shawn Boudrias to make it 4-0.
Jordan McKenna ended the Herd's scoring drought with his first goal as a Moosehead.
Raphael Lavoie following up quickly after to bring Halifax within two but Jarrett Baker responded for Cape Breton to make it 5-2 heading into the third period.
Shaun Miller, Brooklyn Kalmikov and Matthew Lint added three more to Cape Breton's tally to make it a 8-2 final in the Eagles' favour.
The Mooseheads are back in the Scotiabank Centre on Oct. 25 when they take on the Moncton Wildcats.
