The Shawinigan Cataractes dominated the Halifax Mooseheads 8-3 Sunday at Centre Gervais Auto.

Shawinigan got off to a great start in the opening frame as Charles Beaudoin, Jeremy Martin and Olivier Nadeau all found the back of Halifax's net.

Jordan Lepage extended Shawinigan's lead in the second period.

Senna Peeters put Halifax on the board near the midway point of the second but Kirill Nizhnikov restored Shawinigan's four goal lead shortly after.

Marc-Antoine Pepin, Nadeau and Beaudoin added to their lead to make it 8-1 after 40 minutes.

Zack Jones and Kevin Gursoy added to Halifax's tally but it wasn't enough as Shawinigan walked away with the win.

The Mooseheads are back in the Scotiabank Centre on Friday when they welcome the Quebec Remparts.
