The Halifax Mooseheads has named their team captain for the season.

Benoit-Olivier Groulx will be wearing the 'C' on his jersey.

A video posted to Twitter from the team's account shows head coach J.J. Daigneault saying they were looking for someone willing to put the team first.

"Somebody that's selfless, somebody that's courageous, somebody who's focused on the task," he told the team. "Somebody that leads by example, somebody that when you see them off the ice, and with their effort, persistence and courage, is somebody you want to follow."

"Somebody that builds good relationships, not only with the coaching staff, but with his peers, with the players, and somebody who's going to come up to the plate when he's needed."

Daigneault said it was a tough call because the team has so many great leaders.

Patrick Kyte has been named a permanent assistant captain for the season and Daigneault said a couple more assistants will be announced later.
