A woman has been handed a $1,000 ticket after police were called to a gathering in Halifax Thursday night.

Halifax Regional Police arrived at a residence at around 8:15 p.m. after being told there was a social gathering that exceeded the mandated limits.

Currently, no more than 10 visitors are allowed at a home, inside or outside.

Police are encouraging Haligonians to educate themselves on COVID-19 public health directives and enforcement measures.

"We all must follow the rules and do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our communities," said HRP in a news release. "More information on what you can do to help curb the spread of COVID-19 is available on the Halifax Regional Police website."
