RCMP say a Bedford man who was driving a stolen Honda Civic has been charged with impaired driving.

Just before 11 p.m. Monday, a Mountie pulling out of the detachment on Old Sackville Rd. noticed the vehicle passing by without tail lights on.

The officer tried to pull the vehicle over, but police say the driver continued for a short distance before turning into a driveway.

RCMP say the man showed signs of impairment and the car had been reported stolen on July 18 from Lower Sackville's Seawood Ave.

A 59-year-old man is now facing charges of impaired operation of a conveyance, operating a conveyance with a blood alcohol level over 80 mg% and possession of stolen property over $5,000.

He is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on September 23.
