Police say just after 3:30 p.m., officers spotted a vehicle driving unsafely, "which led to the vehicle being stopped and a collision investigation was conducted."
They say after the driver was ticketed, he physically confronted the officers.
When more officers were called in, according to police, the suspect assaulted one of them.
A conducted energy weapon was used to restrain the suspect before he was taken into custody.
He will be facing assault charges and has since been released on a promise to appear.
Police say they are aware of the social media posts about the incident.
"HRP would also like to remind members of the public that if they have concerns related to the conduct of an officer, they can file a complaint with the professional standards branch," they said in a news release Wednesday night.
