UPDATE: Regional police reopened roads in the area just before 11 p.m. Monday. The investigation continues.

Halifax Regional Police have Gaston Road between Portland Street down to MacRae Avenue blocked off Monday night as they investigate a report of gunfire in the neighbourhood.

Police were called to the scene just before 7:30 p.m. after several witnesses heard what was thought to be shots fired in the area.

Arriving officers found damage to a home and vehicle from what appeared to be the gunfire.

"There are no reported injuries and there is no ongoing risk to the public," said HRP in a news release.

The investigation is still in the early stages and police say more details will be released if and when they become available.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 902-490-5020 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
