Halifax Regional Police have charged a man in a Monday night stabbing.

Officers were called to Gottingen Street near Cornwallis Tuesday morning after someone saw what they believed was blood in the area.

Investigators now say three men got into an argument and it escalated to the point where one was stabbed by another.

Police believe all three knew each other and they were able to track them all down.

The stabbing suspect was already at police headquarters after being arrested for something else.

Brian Stanley Knowles, 43, has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and breach of recognizance.

The victim, a 32-year-old Halifax man, has an injured hand.
