Four arrested in Christmas Eve home invasion

Four people have been arrested in relation to a home invasion that took place on Christmas Eve in Wellington.

RCMP were called to the home at 2:05 a.m. on Dec. 24, but the suspects had left by the time they arrived.

"The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had been at a home with two other people when three men and a woman forcibly entered the residence and repeatedly punched the male resident," said Mounties in a news release.

Police say some items were also taken from the home.

Two people were arrested that afternoon.

Joshua David Eye, 32, and Jeffrey Gordon Hilchie, 38, both of Wellington, have been charged with:

  • Two counts of break and enter to steal a firearm
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Six counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Careless use of a firearm
  • Five counts of possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
  • Five counts of possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence
  • Robbery to steal a firearm
  • Assault

A 32-year-old Enfield man turned himself in on Jan. 21 after RCMP issued a province-wide arrest warrant. Thomas Joseph Lyle Brown has been charged with:

  • Break and enter to steal a firearm
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Five counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Five counts of possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
  • Five counts of possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence
  • Robbery to steal a firearm
  • Five counts of possession of a firearm while prohibited
  • Breach of probation

Then on Feb. 11, a 23-year-old woman from Middle Musquodoboit was arrested. She is facing the following charges:

  • Break and enter to steal a firearm
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
  • Possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence
  • Robbery to steal a firearm

Her name was not released by police. She is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on March 24 at 9:30 a.m.

All three men are scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on March 11 at 9:30 a.m.
