UPDATE: Halifax Regional Police say they have suspended a search in the Bayers Lake area. They did not provide much more information, other than to say there's no longer a police presence and there continues to be no threat to public safety.

Emergency responders are mobilized in Bayers Lake.

Halifax Search and Rescue, police and fire crews are gathered in the Kent parking lot, which borders the Blue Mountain-Birch Cove Lakes Wilderness Area.

Halifax Regional Police have not confirmed if it's a missing persons situation.

They only say they're searching a wooded area and there is no threat to public safety.

They haven't released any other details at this time.

Spokesperson with Halifax Regional Municipality, Brendan Elliott, confirms the fire department has deployed drones to help with the search.

"It's a valuable tool with search and rescue because we can get that drone up in the air," he explained.

"There have been times in the past where we've been able to have the drone right above people that are missing and we can do a screen grab of exactly location, give longitude and latitude to search and rescue, and it pinpoints directly where they should be going to save people."
