Dartmouth woman assaulted with bear spray in home

A man between 50 and 60-years-old forced his way into the woman's apartment, sprayed her and fled on foot

A Dartmouth woman was assaulted with bear spray in her own home early Saturday morning.

Around 2:30 a.m., Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a woman who was sprayed with bear spray in the 300 block of Portland Street in Dartmouth.

The suspect forced his way into the apartment and sprayed the woman. He then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Police are describing the suspect as a white male, between 50 and 60-years-old and heavy set. He wore a blue jacket and blue jeans at the time.

The woman, 48, was checked by paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries.
