Henrietta “Etta” Minerva Williams, age 88, of Windsor, passed away suddenly but peacfully Wednesday, August 8, 2018, in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on December 21, 1929, in Glenholme, Colchester County, she was the daughter of the late, Lyman and Violet (Blair) Ryan.
Etta resided in Portaupique until her marriage to Cecil Ray Williams. They moved to Garlands Crossing where they raised seven children. Once all were in school, she began working outside the home, first at Gordon’s Grill and then on to Eaton’s, the Hants Co-op and Sobey’s from where she retired in 1987. She was a member of the Windsor United Baptist Church and had also been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by 4 daughters, Judy (Dwight) Riley, Tonge Hill; Frances (Angus) Riley, Three Mile Plains; Annie (Steve) Harvey, Brooklyn; Janet Williams, Windsor; sons, Joseph Williams, Tonge Hill, and Peter (Janet) Williams, Newport Station; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren who loved her dearly; sisters, June (late Foster) Wilson and Barbara Ryan, both of Portaupique; brothers, Aubrey (Susan), Truro; Malcolm (Faye), Portaupique; and David (Margaret), Hilden; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Lyman and Violet Ryan, husband, Cecil Ray Williams (2013); son, Lawrence (1975); grandson; Gregory Riley (2006); brothers, James, Merle, Everett and Richard.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 in the Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, N.S. B0N 2T0.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2018 in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Rob Heffernan and Rev. John Bartol will officiate.
Interment will be held in the Ste. Croix Cemetery.
