Glenys Y. McNeil, 72, passed away on February 20, 2021, at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on March 16, 1948, in Carbonear, Newfoundland, the daughter of Josiah and Bertha Davis.

Glenys graduated from Memorial University with an Education degree and taught school for several years, specializing in special education. During this time, she met the love of her life, Don McNeil, who she later married. They celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary last July. They lived in Liverpool and Millinocket, Maine before coming to Bedford in 2005. Glenys enjoyed traveling with Don and spending time with friends and loved ones. Always a gracious and generous host, she truly loved sharing her joy of life with others. She always thought the best of everyone she met, offering her loving compassion to all.

Surviving, in addition to her husband Don, are her children, Carol Doman (Darrel) of Bedford, Greg McNeil (Racine) of Pompano Beach, Florida; brother Everett Davis (Evelyn) of St. John’s; sisters Florence Perry of Montague, and Carol Wilkinson (Bob) of Liverpool; and her deceased brother Clyde’s longtime partner, Yvonne Lewis of Carbonear. Glenys was blessed with three wonderful grandchildren who were the light of her life, Jack, Claire, and Aden. Additionally, the many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who she loved dearly.

In addition to her parents, Glenys was predeceased by her brothers Fred Davis (Emma), Clyde Davis, and Sam Davis (Dorothy), and sisters Marjorie Boutcher (Wilson), Anne Davis (William) and brother-in-law Leo Perry.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax. A funeral mass will take place on Wednesday February 24, 2021 at 1 p.m. by invitation only. To get access to a livestream of the service please email darrel.doman@gmail.com.
