KENNEY (Foster), Muriel Frances

1923 - 2018

Muriel passed away recently after a lengthy illness at Ivany Place, Bedford, Nova Scotia

Born in Halifax, Muriel spent a number of her younger years on Sable Island where her father was the lighthouse keeper.  She developed her love of horses on the island and recalled with great affection her time spent there.

Muriel met her future husband, Sgt. Wallace (Wally) Gordon Foster during the Second World War years and married in 1947.  As a member of the R.C.A.F. they lived across the country including Ontario and Goose Bay, Labrador.

Upon her retirement after 25 years of service at 12 Wing Shearwater, Muriel fulfilled her dreams and travelled extensively across Canada and the continental USA, as well as Europe, including Spain and the Scandinavian countries.

Muriel was predeceased by her parents, James William and Daisy Nora (Gill) Horne, as well as four sisters, Eunice, Shirley, Audrey and Mary and Brother Fred and her husband Wally.  She was the last surviving member of her family.

Muriel and Wally are survived by daughters Juanita Marie, Sharon Elizabeth (Dennis), and son Gary Joseph (Lorna).  She is also survived by grandchildren, Paul , Pauline, Michael, Kimberley and Laura.  Great Grand-Children James, Dawn and Jacob.

Cremation has taken place, and according to Muriel’s wishes there will be no visitation or reception.  There will be a memorial service at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Eastern Passage, on Tuesday November 13th, at 10 a.m. followed by a private family interment at St. Andrew’s Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of Ivany Place for their care of Muriel during her years as a resident.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Eastern Passage Community Funeral Home.
