CUNNINGHAM, Dolly Pretoria
CUNNINGHAM, Dolly Pretoria – 88, passed away peacefully at Yarmouth Regional Hospital on May 14, 2018. Born in Stoney Island on February 27, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Fay (Nickerson) Quinlan. Dolly is survived by sons Kirby (Phyllis), Centreville; Keith (Kimberley), North East Point; Trevor (Leslie) Dayton; daughter Paula (Terry) Faye, Port Clyde ; grandchildren Amber, Ian, Jordan, Patrick, Arielle, Ethan, Keeley and Callum and nine great-grandchildren as well as two nieces, Bonita (Leigh) Nickerson and Jean-Marie (Thomas) Newell. She was predeceased by husband, of sixty-eight years, Rupert and brother, Elwin Quinlan. Dolly married early and her life’s work centred on the support of her family and her community. She always had an open door to all and her home and property served as a playground for many generations of children. She treated them all like gold. She was fortunate to have exceptional neighbours who made life in West Head special. In late years she could be found enjoying morning tea with “The Girls” group at Tim Horton’s and loved Saturday breakfast at McDonald’s. She remained very active in the West Head Ladies Mission and church activities as well as New Horizons Senior Citizens Group. Visitation will be 7-9 pm on Thursday at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. Funeral Service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, May 18 from the H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, with Richard MacAdams officiating. Interment to follow in West Head Cemetery. It has been requested that there be family flowers only. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the West Head Cemetery Fund, the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation or charity of choice.
