HALIFAX — Police are investigating after 12 people were forced to leave their Halifax apartment during what the fire department is describing as an "intentionally set" fire.
The fire occurred in the early hours of this morning at a property on the Lakefront Road in Dartmouth.
Multiple callers reported seeing smoke from the building.
The fire department says in a news release that the blaze was extinguished by 4:25 a.m., and there were no injuries.
Halifax Transit set up a bus on site as a temporary shelter for 12 tenants, including adults and children, who were evacuated.
Police say the arson investigation is in the early stages and is ongoing.
