TATAMAGOUCHE, N.S. — A Nova Scotia man has drowned while swimming with family members at a popular waterfall south of Tatamagouche.

Colchester RCMP say they received a call for help Tuesday afternoon from Drysdale Falls, a well-known swimming spot that features a 12-metre waterfall.

Police say the 38-year-old man from Three Fathom Harbour, N.S., went under the surface of the water and did not come back up.

The Mounties say a family member tried in vain to rescue him.

Two members of the man's family were later rescued by the Special Hazards Response Unit from the Bible Hill fire department.

The waterfall along Bailey’s Brook is popular with thrill-seekers, some of whom have posted videos online showing people jumping from the edge of the falls.
