HALIFAX - The Quebec Remparts took game one of their first round playoff series against the Halifax Mooseheads, defeating the Herd 3-2 on Friday.

The Remparts struck first with Matthew Grouchy scoring on a power play midway through the first period.

Luke Kutkevicius extended Quebec's lead early in the second period. Justin Barron scored a short handed tally minutes later to put the Herd on the board.

The Remparts restored their two goal lead with Pierrick Dube scoring unassisted early in the third but Jared McIsaac responded on a power play to keep it within one.

But it wasn't enough as the Remparts held on to edge out the Mooseheads 3-2.

Game two is set to take place Saturday at the Scotiabank Centre.
