SHAWINIGAN, QC. - The Halifax Mooseheads put the brakes on a three game winless streak as they picked up a 5-2 victory over the Shawinigan Cataractes Friday night.

Mathieu Boulianne put the Cataractes on the board first, near the end of the opening frame.

After that, the Mooseheads responded with Samuel Asselin (2), Raphael Lavoie, and Xavier Parent scoring four consecutive goals to take a 4-1 lead.

Gabriel Denis scored short handed in the third to bring Shawinigan within two.

But it wasn't enough as Asselin completed the hat trick to make it a 5-2 final for Halifax.

The Mooseheads make their way to Rimouski on Sunday to take on the Oceanic.
