HALIFAX - The Halifax Mooseheads put on a strong home showing Wednesday night, defeating the Saint John Sea Dogs 7-3.
Jared McIsaac opened up scoring early in the first with Brett Crossley adding to Halifax's lead a short time later.
Cedric Pare answered back for Saint John to cut Halifax's lead in half near the end of the opening frame.
The second period started with Benoit-Olivier Groulx scoring on a power play and Aiden MacIntosh responding for the Sea Dogs to make it 3-2 Halifax.
After that, Joel Bishop, Groulx and Ben Higgins scored three consecutive goals to make it 6-2 Mooseheads.
Ben Reid cut Halifax's lead in half early in the third but Barrett Dachyshyn responded midway through the period with his first goal of the season to make it a 7-3 final.
On Friday, the Mooseheads will play their penultimate game of the regular season when they host the Moncton Wildcats.
