Mooseheads pick up 5-4 OT win over Sea Dogs in regular season opener

Arnaud Durandeau scored two to help lead the Herd to a 5-4 OT win

SAINT JOHN, N.B. - The Halifax Mooseheads defeated the Saint John Sea Dogs 5-4 in overtime in an intense regular season opener Friday night.
New York Islanders' prospect Arnaud Durandeau scored Halifax's first goal of the season at the 3:15 mark of the opening period.
Gavin Hart followed up with minutes later to extend the Herd's lead to 2-0.
Saint John answered back in the second period as Robbie Burt netted the Sea Dog's first goal of the season.
Brady Burns tied things up early in the third but not long before Durandeau answered back with his second of the evening, making it 3-2 Halifax.
Josh Lawrence tied things up for Saint John with Justin Barron answering right back to help restore Halifax's lead.
Saint John's William Poirier scored with seconds left in the third to force overtime where Patrick Kyte scored the game winner to give Halifax the 5-4 win.
On Saturday, the Mooseheads continue their extended road trip when they visit the Charlottetown Islanders.
