CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The Halifax Mooseheads hung on to defeat the Charlottetown Islanders 3-2 Saturday night at the Eastlink Centre.

After a scoreless opening frame, Charlottetown's Lucas Cormier lit the lamp at the 3:24 mark of the second.

Patty Kyte answered back near the midway point of the period to tie it up at 1-1 heading into the final frame.

Halifax opened strong in the third with Raphael Lavoie and Samuel Asselin both finding the back of Charlottetown's net. It was Asselin's first goal as a Moosehead.

Thomas Casey brought the Islanders within one but it wasn't enough as Halifax held on to take the 3-2 victory.

The Mooseheads are back in action next Friday when they visit the Moncton Wildcats.
