Mooseheads dominate Screaming Eagles 7-1 to win Hurley Cup

HALIFAX - The Halifax Mooseheads won the Hurley Cup Monday afternoon after defeating the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 7-1 at the Scotiabank Centre.

The Mooseheads came out swinging with Raphael Lavoie scoring twice while Antoine Morand and Xavier Parent scored a pair to give the Herd a 4-0 lead early in the first period.

Leon Gawanke eventually put the Screaming Eagles on the board late in the second period.

Benoit Olivier-Groulx, Samuel Asselin and Arnaud Durandeau extended the Herd's lead to 7-1 early in the final period.

The Mooseheads are back in action on Friday when they welcome the Rimouski Oceanic.
