Islanders defeat Mooseheads 5-2

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The Charlottetown Islanders defeated the Halifax Mooseheads 5-2 Friday night at the Eastlink Centre.

The Mooseheads gave up three consecutive goals in the first two periods, with Charlottetown's Nikita Alexandrov, Drew Johnston and Daniel Hardie giving the Islanders a 3-0 lead. 

Raphael Lavoie and Samuel Asselin scored two late power play goals in the second period to bring the Herd within one heading into the third. 

Noah Laaouan scored midway through the third, while Thomas Casey added one more to seal the deal for the Islanders.

The Mooseheads are back in action on Sunday when they visit the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
