Halifax Regional Municipality will be enforcing the winter parking ban overnight into Friday.

Vehicles must be off streets between 1 and 6 a.m.

However HRM warns cars can be ticketed or towed at any time if they are block snow removal crews under the province's Motor Vehicle Act.

They also say recreation programs and services may be cancelled today. They are asking residents to call ahead.

Halifax is under a special weather statement with ice pellets, rain and snow all in the forecast.

Environment Canada says there's also a risk of freezing drizzle and thundershowers Thursday afternoon.
