Waye Mason named deputy mayor

The Halifax South Downtown councillor takes over the 12 month position from Steve Craig

The Halifax South Downtown councillor has been named deputy mayor for Halifax Regional Municipality.

Waye Mason has represented District 7 since first being elected in October 2012. He has served on many municipal committees, boards, and commissions, and is also the vice-president of the Union of Nova Scotia Municipalities.

"I’m proud of our work these last five years to build Regional Council by supporting a culture of respect and collegiality. We’ve also worked hard to make sure all councillor concerns are heard in chambers," Mason said. 

"Nothing gives me more satisfaction than helping us reach a common understanding, and if we don’t all agree, making sure we’ve had a good debate and explored the alternatives before making our decision."

Mason takes over the 12 month position from Lower Sackville councillor Steve Craig.
