Halifax hockey fans will have all eyes on Raphael Lavoie Friday night during the NHL Draft in Vancouver.

The Mooseheads forward is ranked 20th by NHL Central Scouting and is expected to go in the first round.

The team's general manager, Cam Russell, says, Lavoie's 20 playoff goals shows his competitiveness rises the occasion in the biggest games.

"He's 6-foot-4, he's got a great reach, he's got an NHL shot and he wants to win, he wants to be the best," Russell says. "You put that all together, you've got a heck of a pick in the first round."

It's thought Lavoie could land in Montreal, Pittsburgh or Philadelphia.

Xavier Parent ranks 209th and could hear his name called on Saturday.

"He really turned it on coming into playoffs and in the Memorial Cup, and he actually had a great under-18s last year in August," Russell says. "You never know ... we're hoping everything goes well for him."

Sportsnet's coverage of the NHL Draft starts at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
