Two face several charges, police search for third suspect after pair assaulted and forcibly confined

Halifax Regional Police have two Halifax men in custody and are searching for a third suspect after a man and a woman were forcibly confined for several hours in Halifax last week.

Police believe two suspects went into a Brunswick Street apartment, north of Cornwallis, just after midnight on July 19. A third arrived later.

The woman was able to leave and get help. Officers were called at 10:45 p.m. that night.

Both victims were treated by EHS at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.

Police do not believe the incident is random.

Scott Blair and Thomas Hendsbee, both 45, were arrested at the scene. The third man left before police arrived.

Blair faces a total of 12 charges:

  • 2 x unlawful confinement
  • 1 x possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • 2 x assault with a weapon
  • 2 x uttering threats
  • 1 x assault
  • 3 x breach of probation
  • 1 x breach of a recognizance
     

Hendsbee faces a total of 10 charges:

  • 2 x unlawful confinement
  • 2 x possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • 3 x assault with a weapon
  • 2 x uttering threats
  • 1 x assault

Investigators continue to look for the third suspect. He's described as a black man with a light complexion, 5'9", weighing 130 to 140 pounds.
