A man and a woman were taken into custody in Halifax Monday following the theft of firearms in Hantsport.

RCMP say four handguns that had been secured in a locked metal box were stolen from a home Sunday night while the victim slept.

Two suspects were arrested by Halifax Regional Police as they left a Young St. home.

Police searched the home but still haven't found the guns.

A 34-year-old woman has been charged with theft under $5,000 and a number of firearms-related charges.

The man has been released without charges.

Mounties are still investigating and they would like anyone with information about the stolen guns to contact them at 902-798-2207.
