HALIFAX - The Acadie-Bathurst Titan will be bringing the Maritimes division title back to New Brunswick after defeating the Halifax Mooseheads 5-4 on Saturday.
It was a sellout crowd at the Scotiabank Centre as the two teams battled it out for the division crown.
The Titan drew first blood with Antoine Morand finding the back of Alex Gravel's net to make it 1-0 at the 13:55 mark of the first period. Mitchell Balmas followed up shortly after to double their lead.
Jake Ryczek managed to put Halifax on the board before the end of the opening frame to make it a one goal hockey game.
Balmas and Michal Ivan netted a pair of goals early in the second period to make it 4-1 Titan.
Xavier Parent and Filip Zadina eventually scored back-to-back for Halifax to make it 4-3 heading into the final period.
Balmas completed the hat trick early in the third. Benoit Olivier-Groulx brought the Herd within one goal with a little over a minute left, but it wasn't enough as Bathurst held on to win it 5-4.
The Mooseheads will move on to the playoffs where they will play the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the first round with game one taking place in Halifax next Friday.
