With the municipal election coming up next month, the three candidates in HRM's mayoral race are set to take part in a virtual forum on Wednesday.

Fourteen organizations representing businesses throughout the municipality have partnered up to host the forum, including the Black Business Initiative, Canadian Federation of Independent Business and Downtown Halifax Business Commission, among others.

The Downtown Halifax Business Commission's CEO says it will give Mayor Mike Savage, Matt Whitman and Max Taylor the opportunity to let the public know where they stand on municipal issues.

"The moderator will kind of put out a question and each of the candidates will answer that question," said Paul MacKinnon. "Each of the candidates will certainly have a chance to express how they're feeling about different things."

MacKinnon says many questions will centre around the business community, but he adds there will be general questions asked as well.

"Questions around, 'What's your stance around defunding the police? How do you feel about investment in a CFL stadium?', there will be a couple of those kinds of questions," he said.

The virtual forum will stream live at 2 p.m. and run until 3:30 p.m. on Facebook and YouTube.
