Halifax Regional School Board says they're shutting down Elizabeth Sutherland, Rockingstone Heights, J.L. Ilsley and Cunard Junior High for the day because of power outages in the municipality.
They say their early closure procedures are in place and they are notifying parents and guardians.
Thousands of homes were left in the dark in a large area southeast of the Halifax peninsula Friday morning because of damage to power equipment.
At it's peak just after 6:30 a.m. Friday, the outage affected about 11,000 homes stretching from areas of Spryfield and Herring Cove all the way south to Sambro.
