Changes are coming to some Halifax-area schools, as the Halifax Regional Centre for Education prepares to introduce pre-primary to three more school groups.

HRCE spokesperson Doug Hadley says they'll be changing grade configurations in two groups of schools in the Beaver Bank area, and one in St. Margarets Bay.

Harold T. Barrett and George P. Vanier will both be welcoming grade six students, as will Five Bridges Junior High in St. Margarets Bay.

Hadley says the move will make room for the feeder elementary schools to introduce pre-primary.

"We expect these changes to come into play for September 2020," said Hadley. "What we're really looking forward to now is working with each of those communities and hearing the voices of families and students and staff to plan for successful transition of all students."

Hadley says HRCE is excited to be able to bring pre-primary to all 31 school communities.
