A scheduled Wednesday morning announcement on ride-hailing services has been postponed.

That was announced in a news release sent by the province just after 9 a.m.

No reason was given for the delay and an alternative date has not yet been released.

The province's transportation minister will make an announcement Wednesday morning regarding ride-hailing services.

Lloyd Hines will make the announcement at 11:30 a.m. The Old Brewery Market Courtyard on Lower Water Street.

Halifax is one of only a few major centres left that haven't introduced Uber or Lyft.

Vancouver is the most recent city to introduce the service.
