More than 1,000 university graduates are receiving help this year from the Nova Scotia Loan Forgiveness Program.
The province says it has forgiven about $8 million in Nova Scotia student loans in 2020.
Labour and Advanced Education Minister Labi Kousoulis says the program aims to put money back into students' pockets so they can focus on their next steps after completing their post-secondary education.
"We want to set our young people up to succeed in our province, to set down roots and establish careers here," he said in a news release.
As of Aug. 1, those studying at Nova Scotia Community College campuses are also eligible to have their loan debt eliminated.
New graduates can have their entire provincial student loan eliminated after five years of study, saving them up to an additional $20,400.
