Police investigating fire in Bedford apartment building as arson

The fire was quickly extinguished and no one was hurt

Halifax Regional Police are investigating a fire in Bedford on Monday night as arson. 

HRP and Halifax Fire responded to a fire alarm and reports of smoke in an apartment building on Rutledge St. in Bedford around 11:15 p.m.. 

Crews found a fire in the stairwell and managed to quickly extinguish it. 

There were no injuries and everyone was able to return to their apartments.  

Fire investigators have determined someone set the fire on purpose, so police have launched an arson investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crimestoppers.
