Patty Cuttell unofficially elected as district 11 councillor

Council will be formed by 8 women and 8 men with Mike Savage returning as Mayor

Patty Cuttell has been unofficially elected as the councillor for district 11 Spryfield-Sambro Loop-Prospect Road.

Cuttell received 1,662 votes or 19.6 per cent of the total votes for the district.

With Cuttell as the district 11 councillor, Halifax regional council sees gender parity for the first time in history. Eight women and eight men will form council with Mike Savage as mayor.

Just behind Cuttell was Bruce Holland with 28 fewer votes. Matthew Conrad had 1,482 votes for the district.

The results came in after election results stopped coming in last night.

The tables for every other district have been reported. Election officials are expected to confirm official results and voter turnout by Wednesday.
