Demand for services at Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank is on the rise, and as a result, the organization needs more help.
Client services co-ordinator, Cynthia Louis, says they're short volunteers, especially on food bank days.
"Today again, unfortunately, we had to do box-to-go program ... usually when clients come to the food bank, they get to pick their own food out, but today, because we did not have enough volunteers we had to pre-pack the boxes," she tells NEWS 95.7's The Sheldon MacLeod Show.
Parker Street's food bank service runs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
"If we can have 10 volunteers a day to help us serve the clients, and have a few help us tidy up, that would be great because many hands make light work," says Louis.
In addition to food bank volunteers, she says people are also always needed to help with administrative work, fundraising and furniture pick-ups.
