One man killed in overnight crash in Burnside

One man has died, and another is injured after an accident on Akerley Boulevard

Halifax Regional Police were called to a fatal crash overnight in Burnside.

At 11:16, officers were called about a vehicle on fire on Akerley Boulevard east of Gloria McCluskey Avenue. Investigators determined the vehicle was heading west when it went off the road, and struck the guard rail, and then a wall.

The engine caught fire, but was extinguished by another motorist, police say.

The male passenger was helped out of the vehicle, and taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The male driver was declared dead at the scene.
