A Nova Scotia MLA says she's not surprised that allegations of harassment are beginning to come out about Canadian politicians.

Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River MLA Lenore Zann says the "old boys club" has lasted far too long.

"Women are just saying, 'Enough is enough and we can't take this anymore'," she stated.

She says while she's never experienced sexual harassment while in politics, she has seen misogyny at work.

Zann gave the example of one day when she had a male friend drive her to a meeting.

"I was asking questions of this gentleman who was in front of me and bringing up important issues that I needed to get answers on," she said. "And when he responded to me, he didn't look at me and respond to me, he responded to the guy who was sitting over in the corner who I brought with me."

She says when it comes to Jamie Baillie, she was shocked to hear of allegations against him, and feels for his family and the victim of the harassment.
