The province will provide the Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (CSAP) and its students and staff with a new, modern pre-primary to Grade 8 school on the peninsula.

Today, April 9, Derek Mombourquette, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, and Lena Metlege Diab, Minister of Acadian Affairs and Francophonie,   announced the new school which will help Halifax's growing CSAP community with a new facility.

"The province continues to support Nova Scotia's Acadian and francophone communities with new, modern facilities to enhance learning for students," said Mr.  Mombourquette. "By recently purchasing École secondaire Mosaïque and by building a new school on the peninsula, the province is ensuring that francophone students and staff can experience the best public-school education possible."

"This announcement reinforces the province's commitment to support quality French first-language education and to ensure the continued prosperity and vibrancy of our rich Acadian and francophone culture," said Ms. Diab.

The new school will be located on the site of the former RCMP headquarters at the corner of Oxford Street and Bayers Road at the recommendation of Department of Infrastructure and Housing.
