UPDATE: On Wednesday HRM said all parks remain closed to the public

As life starts to slowly return to a pre-Dorian state, most municipal parks will reopen soon.

On Tuesday, HRM's division chief of emergency management, Erica Fleck said crews are expected to remove the barriers blocking access to parks on Wednesday.

"The parks and recreation department were making the sports fields their first priority, and a number of those will be reopen tonight," she told NEWS 95.7's The Sheldon MacLeod Show. "They really want to give the community access back to those fields, so kids' sporting events, bookings and normal things like that can resume."

Four parks will likely require extended closures, so don't plan on going to Point Pleasant Park, Halifax Public Gardens, Victoria Park and Camp Hill Cemetery until further notice.

Two provincial camping parks will also reopen Wednesday.
