HALIFAX - Goaltender Alexis Gravel made 31 saves for his first win in five starts as the Halifax Mooseheads beat Val-d'Or 4-2 at Scotiabank Centre on Saturday night.
The win is Gravel's first since October 21st and improves his record to 5-8-0 on the season.
Rookie Filip Zadina had a goal and an assist, while Arnaud Durandeau, Otto Somppi and Walter Flower also lit the lamp for Halifax.
Defenceman Justin Barron recorded two helpers and Brett Crossley, Raphaël Lavoie and Xavier Parent each had one assist.
The win was Halifax's second straight overall and fourth straight at Scotiabank Centre.
Halifax got on the board just 1:04 into the first period on Somppi's eleventh of the season, assisted by Lavoie and Zadina, who were both coming off three point games against Rouyn-Noranda on Friday.
Arnaud Durandeau notched his tenth of the season to make it 2-0 for the Herd 6:00 into the first period on a feed from Parent before Zadina scored his league-leading 22nd to make it 3-0 with six and a half minutes left in the first.
Mooseheads defenceman Walter Flower had the lone goal of the second period on a blast from the point at 13:19. It was Flower's second goal of the season.
Foreurs' captain David Henley made it 4-1 just 18 seconds into the third before a shorthanded goal from Yan Dion at 5:30 made it 4-2.
Val-d'Or pulled their goalie late in the period with Parent off for high sticking but weren't able to convert.
The Mooseheads begin a four-game road trip Wednesday in Shawinigan. The game can be heard on News 95.7 with puck drop scheduled for 8 p.m.
